Grim Fandango
Travel Posters

Grim Fandango was a PC game released by LucasArts in 1998. An adventure game, it combined elements of the Aztec belief of afterlife with style aspects of Film Noir to create the mythical Land of the Dead. The story followed travel agent Manuel “Manny” Calavera as he attempts to save Mercedes “Meche” Colomar, a newly arrived but virtuous soul, during her long journey.

Despite glowing reviews from the industry, Grim Fandango never achieved widespread acclaim. However, I was thrilled to hear that in 2016 it was to be given a complete remastering and re-release for the new generation and might finally get the time in the spotlight it deserves. In celebration of this, my evenings and weekends were filled with designing this series of 1940’s/50’s vintage travel posters featuring four of the fantastic locations from this game. These posters eventually went on to win the Good Old Games Grim Fandango fan art competition, and were signed by the designer of the game, Tim Schafer, himself. Due to popular demand these are now available as framed/unframed art prints and canvases at my RedBubble or Society6 stores.
